# Payments

LayerTao introduces a hybrid system combining traditional billing with a native token.

### Developer Billing

For developers, the experience is simple:

* Create an account
* Generate an API key
* Purchase credits
* Pay per request

There is no requirement to:

* Hold TAO
* Manage wallets
* Understand on-chain mechanics

This lowers the barrier to entry significantly.

Internally, LayerTao interacts with the network by:

* Aggregating demand
* Optimizing routing decisions
* Balancing cost and performance

This allows the platform to offer stable pricing while still leveraging a dynamic network.
